Happy Anniversary, Mama Squirrel

Today is our third wedding anniversary. It has been a wonderful ride so far, so of course, we wanted to celebrate. And since we are helpless cogs in the consumer-driven machine that is our society, I decided to buy her something.

So what did I buy? Jewelry? Don’t be silly. We’re foodies.

A blender? A stand mixer? Don’t be silly, those things are shiny. We’ve had those forever.

No, ours is a pure love, so I bought her something pure. Five pounds of pure, white lard.

No, it’s not like that! It’s for tamales.

Stop that!

It’s for making tamales. Mama is currently experimenting with both savory and sweet tamales. Hopefully she’ll write about it soon.

Until then, love you, Sweetie.
