We were recently turned on to Fried Chicken and Sweet Potato Pie, an award-winning documentary about Edna Lewis, by bbarash productions. Miss Lewis has been referred to as the “Julia Child of Southern Cooking”. Like Julia Child, Miss Lewis inspired generations of home and professional cooks alike.
We haven’t gotten a copy of the documentary yet, but the preview looks excellent. We only know Miss Lewis’s life through what we have read. We know her food through the work of her student Scott Peacock and his fantastic Watershed Restaurant.
I’m looking forward to seeing this documentary. We’ll let you know what we think when we do.
