We did a short piece on one of the many joys that John T. Edge has brought to our lives, Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka. We were enamored of the vodka, and we were enamored of our new puppy, so we thought it would be cute to pose Fluffy with the bottle as if he were about to imbibe.

Sadly, we had no idea just how impressionable a young pup can be. Today, we learned a hard lesson about puppies hitting the sauce.

Angela’s father picked Patric up from school. When they got to the house, they saw right away that we hadn’t put Fluffy away properly when we left for the day. They could see him through the glass front door. Only when they got to the door did the entire sad scene unfold. Fluffy was lying there, looking eagerly up at them while between his paws he cradled our bottle of Jack Daniels.

The bottle was undamaged, save for a few teethmarks on the lid. Clearly he had tried for some of that sweet nectar before finally deciding to wait for the folks with the opposable thumbs. His hopes were dashed however; as, instead of intervening on his behalf with the bottle top, we chose to intervene with him and the bottle.

Trust us, Fluffy. We’re doing this because we love you. Not because we love our Jack Daniels too much to share.
