Matt and Ted Lee won two awards. They will be going home to Charleston with the award for Best Cookbook, Food of the Americas. They also were given the award for Cookbook of the Year. John T. Edge of the Southern Foodways Alliance was nominated for two awards in the journalism section, but he was shut out.
Chef John Currence of City Grocery in Oxford, Mississippi, was nominated for Best Chef: South, but he lost to Chef Donald Link of Herbsaint in New Orleans. Chef Scott Peacock of Watershed in Decatur, Georgia, won Best Chef: Southeast, beating out two chefs we hope to dine with soon John Fleer of Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee, and Hugh Acheson of Five & Ten in Athens, Georgia.
