In addition to having the coolest acronym around, SoFAB, the Southern Food and Beverage Museum, is an exciting museum concept. I can’t wait to visit when its facility opens in New Orleans. For now, everyone can join in on the fun through fundraising efforts.

533 Beale Street, Memphis, TN
The Southern Food and Beverage Museum presents “Invitation to the Southern Table,” a benefit and menu collecting event for the Southern food and Beverage Museum and its Menu Project.
The Southern Food and Beverage Museum is a regional museum located in New Orleans dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Southern food and culture, and is slated to open in late 2008. The Menu Project is a part of the museum’s archives and attempts to gather a menu every year from every restaurant in the south to aid future scholars in researching culture, food, economics and design. The Southern Food and Beverage Museum invites you to attend and bring menus from your favorite restaurants to add to the collection to ensure that all restaurants from around the south are represented. Attendees will enjoy a variety of dishes prepared by Chef Stephen Hassinger of Hunt Phelan. In addition, a signature cocktail created especially for this event will be unveiled. Tickets are $100 per person or $110 at the door. To purchase tickets or for further information, contact 504.578.8280 or visit www.southernfood.org.
Chef Hassinger is an excellent New Orleans import. We’re lucky to have him here. Come out and enjoy his superb creations and support SoFAB. Read more about SoFAB. You’ll see that while the building may be down in New Orleans, SoFAB is here and everywhere that we love. And we’re lucky to have it here.
